A. The Monster DLP is an opportunity for students to get a head start on initiating their career of choice. It is a unique chance for incoming college sophomores, juniors and seniors of diverse background to spend a weekend learning practical career skills and interacting with individuals from industry-leading companies in a fun and dynamic environment. These high-energy events are jam-packed with presentations and activities provided by some of the nation’s most inspiring speakers and organizations. Participants will spend a summer weekend, in one of 9 host locations (Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Baltimore, LA, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Francisco), with 300 like-minded student-leaders exploring such areas as resume-building, career development, workplace diversity and networking. Attending students will leave with access to an invaluable network of professional contacts and mentors, new friends and fresh ideas about their place in the ‘real world.’ 98% of students would recommend this program to a friend. *Due to an overwhelming number of student applicants, we are currently not accepting participants for the New York DLP location.

A. To be eligible for the Diversity Leadership Program, a student must meet the following requirements:

  • Currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited four-year college or university during the Fall term of 2008. We will also accept students who are pursuing an associate degree if he/she has already been accepted as a transfer student to an accredited-four year college or university for Fall 2008.
  • Between ages of 18-24 years old
  • An incoming second year (Sophomore status), third-year (Junior status) or fourth-year (Senior status) college student. This is defined by the year of college you will be entering for the Fall term of 2008. Note: The program is not open to freshmen, working professionals who have graduated or graduate students at this time.
  • Although all students will be considered, we recommend that applicants maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or possess a GPA of 3.5 or higher in their chosen major). We also seek students who have outstanding extracurricular involvement, volunteerism and successful work experience.
  • U.S. citizen, a permanent resident of the U.S, or have an F-1 student visa. Note: We cannot accept non-U.S. residents, or individuals with H-1 or J-1 Visas.

A. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through May 30, 2008. Rolling basis means we review applications at the time they are received, rather than after the end of the application period. This process naturally rewards students for submitting their application early, as admission slots are awarded on a daily basis. APPLY NOW!

A. The Monster DLP supports a broad definition of diversity. "Diverse Background" refers to someone who has been exposed to a uniquely distinct environment. Whether that refers to a unique ethnicity or culture, etc., we encourage you to apply if YOU feel compelled to participate as a student of a diverse background. During the application, you will have the opportunity to define your diversity, if you so choose.

A. Housing, food and required materials are all paid for by our corporate sponsors. The only cost you will incur is transportation. We ask that you provide your own transportation to and from the location you elect. If you have been accepted and you are seeking information on airports, taxis or other transportation options near your event, log into your account. You will be able to download this information.

A. Students will be chosen on the strength of their academic performance, leadership, and participation in college/community activities, work experience and personal goals. We do not have a minimum GPA requirement, though accepted students generally have a strong academic record. To be considered for a DLP weekend, you must complete the application in its entirety.

Students who submit a resume receive greater consideration than those who do not. Please understand that your resume is only one part of the selection criteria for this program. It is not a test; we just want to know more about your interests and background. We strongly encourage you to submit a resume.

A. Students will be notified of our decision by both email and letter. We make every effort to communicate our decision in a timely manner. Students may wait anywhere between 2 weeks and 2 months for their decision, depending on the volume of applications.

A. The DLP admissions team makes every effort to assign all students to their 1st choice location. Only a small percentage of students will be offered admission to their 2nd location. In extreme cases, you may request a transfer if you can not make it to your assigned location. Transfer requests will be reviewed on a per case basis.
